Am I liable?

My question revolves around roommates and releasing from a lease. I shared a three bedroom apartment with two other roommates ''X'' and ''Y''. The lease renewed itself before myself and roommate ''X'' couldgive a 30 day written notice. Roommate ''Y'' signed a roomamte release for myself and it is pressumed he did the same for roommate ''X''. Since this time the apartment company has informed ''Y'' that there is a lease violation due to a lofty water bill of $520 which must be paid. The question is this, am I liable for these charges? There has been a problem before with receiving the bill on time or at all.

You are requesting an opinion on the meaning of two documents, the lease and the notice. An attorney could not give you an opinion without reading the documents.
