Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
I live in GA and signed a lease to rent a home from a private owner yesterday. I now need to cancel that lease. Is there a statute on contracts in GA? Does it extend to leases?

Your ability to "cancel" the lease will be determined by the terms of the lease. There is no "3 day rule" or anything like that in Georgia. Read the lease. A lease is a contract and the law is that you are generally bound by the contracts you sign. Read the contract, and contact the lessor to see what it will take to get you out of it. The sooner the better (meaning today). Money you pay a lawyer to review the lease you should have already read might be used to pay the landlord a termination fee, to be agreed upon in writing. The more days that go by, the more time the house is vacant and the landlord cannot advertise.
