Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

I live in a suburban community and I have a fence on my property between my house and the house behind me. My neighbor is in the process of building a 20 ft. long compost pile against my fence. He told me he composts everything including his bodily waste product - both liquid and solid. This compost is approx. 20 ft away from my back door and is already causing bad odors and many flies. What is my recourse? I live in a suburb of Atlanta, GA.

It is very likely that he is violating a local ordinance or health code. If you can't work it out with him, make a report to your local city or county code enforcement.

In addition to what Mr. Ashman wrote, you may have a nuisance and/or trespass claim for the odor. Have an attorney send your neighbor a letter demanding removal and citing code violations and nuisance/trespass laws.
