Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
Mechanics Lien
I have a piece of property in Waleska, GA that I am developing. I hired a plumbing company to install a septic system and paid them by credit card. 1 1/2 months after the completion of the job I get a call from the equipment rental company that rented them the backhoe saying that they stopped payment on the check for the equipment due to a dissagreement with the amount. Can the equipment rental company put a mechanics lien on my property.?

Re: Mechanics Lien
Yes. You should try to resolve this dispute before it gets to that point because if you are subdividing the property, any lien would attach to each parcel. Even if you are not subdividing, it will be a hassle to unscramble. Contact a local attorney for a consultation.
