Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

mechanics liens

when you are building a home and the contractor gets draws from the bank and doesn't pay the subs, they put liens on your property. We have liens because of this, but we have not been contacted by one of the lien holders. We live in Georgia, and I heard that by law the people that have a lien against your property, must contact you. Is this true, and if so, can we get out of this lien?

Re: mechanics liens

There is a procedure that lien filers must follow regarding notice but it is too complicated to explain in this type of format. Consult with a local attorney.
