Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Mortgage payment

I sent my mortgage payment to my mortgage company. I sent it certified with a return signature receipt. My company says they see they received the package, but do not know where my payment went. My account number was on the check. They say I have to provide proof of the check. What is my legal right to get them to fix this? Aren't they responsible for this payment when they sign for it? I am being penalized, because they can't find the check.

Re: Mortgage payment

Probably the cheapest and quickest way to fix things is to put a stop order on your check and overnight them a new one. Be sure to get someone at the mortgage to OK this and state that it will not affect your payment history. Then fax or email confirmation of the arrangement.
