If a person has been separated from her husband for over 10 and has acquired property during the interim , can the husband claim any portion of that property in divorce even though he lives in another state

Yes. It's marital property. Had you used a buyer's attorney as you should have the lawyer would have warned you to get a divorce before the purchase. A court doesn't have to give him an interest but can so do get a lawyer to argue for the best outcome.
