Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Property Information

I had a verbal agreement with this lady on property my 2 houses are on that I will be buying the land and I am paying her. I seen a ad in the paper that the taxes were not being paid so I went and paid the taxes and have been paying the taxes myself now instead of sending her the money. I have been here for 10 years now. Well this lady came up to me the other day and said the lady that I was buying the property from is trying to sell it from under me. Please tell me what rights do I have

Re: Property Information

Ownership to the property, if any, after 10 years, tax sales, etc., can't be determined by a couple sentences of information. Two general points - unwritten contracts to buy land are unenforceable, and merely paying taxes on property does not make you the owner. Obviously, your question reflects that you acknowledge the lady as the property owner. See a real estate lawyer, who will review all facts and details to see if you have a claim for the taxes you paid for the property.
