Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
property lein
i am employing a contractor to lay concrete and it looks like i shall have to ask him to leave . my neighbor states that if this contracor leaves his hired machinery on my property , the hire firm can then place a lein on my property for any unpaid bills relating to thr hire of that machinery ( bobcat etc) . is this true and how does one avoid that situation if it does ?

Re: property lein
Just as anybody can sue anybody for anything, a lien can be filed even if there is no valid basis for it. Many contractors think (wrongly) that they have a right to charge you for their rental of equipment. Best advice: contact a local attorney ASAP to send a "cease and desist" type of letter.
