Property Owners Associations
When purchasing a house, should the buyer be made aware of any active property owner association, prior to the closing of the property ? If so can you please provide me with statues or codes that would define this in the state of Georgia.
Also any other codes pretaining to operation (meetings, financial etc) of the association would be helpful.

I represent a number of homeowner associations and am familiar with this problem. In my opinion, the answer is "Yes, prospective buyers and new homeowners should be apprised of the existence of both the homeowners association as well as covenants affecting your property. However, there is no law currently on the books that requires this disclosure.
