Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
Quit Deed
I am currently in litigation involving a car accident that was my fault. It is possible that I will be sued by the opposing parties insurance company for a large lump sum. Am I able to quit deed my home to a family member to prevent my home from being taken away due to my inability to pay this possible large sum that I will be sued for?

Re: Quit Deed
If you anticipate a lawsuit and damages award under the circumstances that you describe then you should arrange a consultation with an attorney.

The lawyer you choose (if you do not have insurance to cover the lawyer) will be one who tells you off the bat that the transfer of property to avoid a debt is called a fraudulent conveyance.
