Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

real estate advertising on the internet

I'm planning to launch a small business selling advertising to people interested in selling thier home by owner in my town. I have no qualifications. Can I get myself into trouble doing this?

Interesting Question. Note they only posted your Q to me on 10.25.2001.

If all you do is sell advertising and vector people to the owners, then I think you are ok under Georgia law. I have both a GA law Lic and a GA real estate lic. The RE law requires that you have a Lic if you take a "commission" on the sale. So, if you take a % of the house that is sold, you may be in hot water. If however, you have a fixed fee for advertising if and when the house sells (could be iffy, but probably not), then I think you are probably ok.
