Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Need help with a real estate issue

We bought a house last March, there is a room that was added on by the pervious owners. Well the roof leaks as well as the floor has been slowing loosing so we pulled up a few tiles to find that there is no slab. So now we have to fix this problem, we were under the impression that this was on a slab and done to code when we made the offer on the house. We even had a inspection company come out and look at everything and we told them to pay close attention to that room, they said it was fine. My question is what are our legal rights here, we have already tried the insurance route and they said they cant help. Who do I need to talk to next and what are our rights so that we may not be out alot of money on this.

It depends - were the defects something your inspector could have found, or were they hidden such that a reasonable inspection would not have revealed them. Was the inspector insured? There are other questions. If you hire an attorney, there are usually several around with significant experience in housing defects and they will know exactly what to ask. It is better to hire someone in that field than one who dabbles in everything. Check websites and profiles of local lawyers or firms (wherever "local" may be). Better yet, get a referral from a lawyer.
