how do i ''put'' my wife a/ as 1/2 owner of the house we live in?
we have grown children, she wants to insure there is no problem upon either of our deaths.

You (and any other current owner) will have to deed the property to her and you. You're best option would probably be to hold the property as joint tenants with right of survivorship so the property would automatically go to the surviving spouse upon a death.
