Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Rental Issue

My husband & I, after having moved into our new home, were approached by a company wanting us to rent our home to a particular company (same company has rented our home and others for past 4 years) for Masters Tourn. After talking with neighbors (who have had no trouble/problems with this company), the cleaning lady, and the rental guy we agreed to sign up. One week before Masters we find out from our neighbor that the company decided to back out and did so back in Dec. We had received full payment by this time thus throughly confused. We contacted the man that we had been dealing with and he said that it was true and he did not tell us because he was trying to re-rent it. Also he said he had paid half of what we recieved because the original company had only paid the first half. We told him we were not comfortable renting to just anyone and paid him back his half ($5500). We wanted to just leave it at that. The problem is, the actual contract we signed did not specify the company, just the week of time.We have an email where he specifically states that he is renting our home to company X. We held firm, and now we have received a letter demanding the other $5500 (that company X paid, not him).Does he have any legal basis

Re: Rental Issue

Your post is difficult to follow, and of course we do not have the paperwork. The bottom line is that if you had a contract with a particular party, you should have dealt with that party. If they had agreements with someone else, it is for them to handle.
