Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Roommate conflict

My roommates (one female and one male) and I are living in an apartment, and the lease is under the previous roommates names (who moved out before the lease ends). I stay in the living room. My roommates each stay in their own bedrooms. Rent for July was already paid at the beginning of July. July 31 2008 is the date that we shall evacuate the apartment.

My female roommate moved out on the morning of July 25th voluntarily. The same night I moved into her bedroom. July 29, 2008 my female roommate suddenly called me and asked me to pay for living in the bedroom.

My question is: 1. Shall I pay her back? If so/not, what would be the reason(s)?

2. Since none of our names are on the current lease, could this issue be pursued through legal route, what would the procedure and cost be?

Thanks so much for your help. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Re: Roommate conflict

Work it out among yourselves. Such petty squabbles are far from appropriate for cluttering courts.
