were we screwed?
made offer using listing agent, agent never contacted us but we found out another offer was accepted. Seems agent shuld have contacted us to coutner offer right? Were we screwed becasue we did not have our own realtor representing us? Seems to me listing agent would want us to buy the house as he would get more commision. Something is fishy...I need some answers to reassure myself that we dont have rights since we had an offer in first!!! WHY WERE WE NOT GIVEN THE CHANCE TO COME BACK WITH A BETTER OFFER? jane

It is unlikely you need to pay a lawyer to "assess the situation." If I read your post correctly, your complaint is that the seller and their agent did not do what you think they should do. It is their house. They can sell it to anyone they want, for any price they want. I am not sure what "rights" you believe you had because you made an offer that was not accepted.
