Squatters Rights on land

I live in a neighborhood in Georgia. My neighborhood association has maintained for many years a strip of land (25X20 feet) that is unused but actually belongs to a business that is adjacent to my yard. This strip of land provides access to a retention pond/common area in our neighborhood. This business is now wanting to install a chain link fence which will be installed directly on the property line, and will block our access to the retention pond. My question is what are the laws regarding squatters rights in Georgia? We are interested in learning if we can legally make the request that they don't enclose that strip of land in their fence. We (neighborhood association) would continue to provide maintance on the land.

Based on the facts in your question, I think the business is free to install the fence. If your HOA wants to do something about it, it needs to hire a lawyer and proceed with an action in the Superior Court of your County. HCW
