Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
We submitted a 30 day notice to vacate the home we are renting on 10/03/14. The landlord is angry because we did not buy the house. She placed an add on craigslist listing the home as being renovated and should be ready to move into by 11/17/14. The house is NOT being renovated as we still live there. There is a steady flow of people at all hours wanting to come in an look at the house and wondering when the renovations will be done. How do we address this with a disgruntled landlord?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Put a note on the front door that says:
"ATTN: POTENTIAL RENTERS - DO NOT RING BELL: This unit is presently occupied and is not eligible for rental until after November 2, 2014. It is NOT being renovated while occupied, so please do NOT ring the doorbell and disturb the tenants, who cannot show you the home. Contact the landlord after the tenants move."
Take down your note on November 2. That should solve your problem.
