Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

No termination fee!

My prior apartment complex terminated my lease because they didn't want my father to park his 18 wheeler on the apartment grounds. When we first moved to the apartments we had a verbal agreement with one of the managers that it was ok for him to park there but once the apartment was under new management the new managers asked him to remove it. We would have never moved there if we knew that he couldn't park his truck there. Now they are trying to charge US for termination fees! What steps should I take to take legal actions? I'm not trying to sue, I'm just trying to clear up the termination fee.

Re: No termination fee!

Read your lease carefully. Ordinarily while the landlord may have the right to terminate, I have never heard of him also being able to charge you a fee.

Re: No termination fee!

Read your lease to determine the following: 1) Whether parking vehicles of a certain type on the premises is a violation of the lease and 2) whether the landlord reserved the right to charge tenants a fee if it became necessary to terminate the lease early due to a tenant lease violation.
