Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Unzoned apartment rental

I rented a basement apartment (6mos rent plus 1mo deposit paid) and now I find out that it is not zoned for an apartment. Can I be put out if the city finds out? Is my lease even legal? Can I get my money back and try to find another place?

Re: Unzoned apartment rental

There is a difference between renting out a room on one's house, and operating an apartment business. No one here knows the zoning, what your lease says, etc. It is safe to say most people who go looking for these issues are people who regret signing the lease for unrelated reasons and are looking for a way out.
