Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia

Variance from homeowners assoc.for privacy fence.

We needed to build a privacy fence above the stated 6' limit set out in our covenants. We approached the Pres. of our assoc. and received a variance. Now the assoc. claims the variance applied to a very specific section of fence, although this wasn't stated in the letter. This construction was completed by my wife and myself and took approx. 4+ weeks to complete. Our property is directly across the street from the assoc. pres. and he watched the construction the entire time. Literally on the last day of construction 2 other assoc. board members rode by our property and within 5 minutes the Pres.was in our yard, irate, and is now taking us to court seeking injunctive relief. Any advice? Thanx Ken
