Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Georgia
My wife and I signed a one year lease in October 2009 for a home. The owner then stated to us that they would be putting the home on the market in the summer of 2010. We were told this in February 2010. We in turn purchased a home from the owner of the company I work for. We are being privately financed, but we did close on the house and do have the warranty deed for the property. Can the lessor of the other property put a lien on this new house for payment of the balance of the lease?

If they get a judgment, yes. They can also go after bank accounts, wages, etc. This is the consequence of breaching contracts and not honoring obligations.
