Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Georgia
I am a 27 year old black male. I was sexually harrased at my former job by my white male supervisor. I am not a homo or gave any consent for contact. I'm not the type that gets into confrontations of the sort and tried to tell him to stop in a discreet way because other employees were assuming that I was liking it and was getting special favors for allowing it. He'd stop for awhile and then start doing it again. I'd say dont do that, he'll insist that I like it. I wanted to take some sort of legal action before my termination, but ingorance to the law and fear that I might lose my job and my income because of the incident kept me mum about the situation. My question is.....is there some kind of legal action that I can pursue event though I am no longer an employee there???

That sounds pretty horrible, but there is definitely legal action you can take even after being terminated. There are, however, strict time limits that must be met so you should not delay in finding an attorney.

If you believe you were terminated because you failed to agree to his sexual advances, you can file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. I've provided a link below. You should read the information on the site to determine if you are a covered employee. If you are covered, you have to file a claim with an agency before filing a lawsuit. You don't need an attorney to file a charge with the EEOC. However, you may want to take advantage of free legal consultations before going there.
I have extensive experience in representing clients before the EEOC. Therefore, if you want to discuss your claim before going there, please contact me. Otherwise, you can wait to consult with an attorney until after you've filed your charged with the EEOC.
The Atlanta office is located in downtown less than a block from Five Points Station.
