If this man cannot be essentially characterized as your "superior", with some power to decide whether or not you stay in school, gradutate, etc., and if he is not asking sexual favors as a condition to any favorable action, and if this is your first complaint about this person, and if the school has a good faith written sex harassment policy they are dutifully following, any attempt to sue them for this will fail if they follow the policy and take reasonable action under the circumstances to attempt to correct things. Tell them you are going to consult with an attorney to determine what is a reasonable remedy to request here before agreeing to anything. Neither EEOC nor the courts are likely to back you under such circumstances if you do not give them at least a chance to rectify the situation. If the action proves ineffective and the man persists, then, you may be justified to immediately then sue. You should probably get a copy of your school's sex harassment policy as soon as possible and call me for a free initial consultation.
