Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Georgia

hostile environment

does the term "hostile environment" only refer to sexual harrassment? where I am employed, one of the women is frequently making reference to the fact that me and another woman is overweight, she does verbally and by leaving cartoons and literature around. also, she has been listening to my phone conversations, going thru my desk, writing things referring to where another person parks, and continually making snide comments to other people at the office and over the phone.

Re: hostile environment

Overweight people are not in a protected class.

HOWEVER. does she do that to overweight men????

Probably not. What are the cartoons like?

Do they depict women? men? or both?

What is the literature?

The other activities? Does she do that to men?

Without knowing all the facts, as you can see, it is almost impossible to answer your question here and now.

Go to a local attorney and tell him or her everything. He or she will sort it out for you.

Best of wishes,

Re: hostile environment

Though one! It is harrassment. Non-sexual? It all depends on whether the devices used for harrassment purposes impose a sexual innuendo of any sort. However a longshot, I would argument that if weight is not and intrinsic, inherent or essential part of the work that is done in the office then making reference to it cannot be but a result of a sexually oriented statement. That statement being that you are aesthetically inadecuate, and that such an indication cannot be, due to the line of work, but sexually oriented. Hostile environment does not mean that the person is conducting itself in a manner as to procure sexual intercourse, but rather an environment that is charged with such sexual content that would result in an inadequate working place.
