Legal Question in Tax Law in Georgia

My husband is an independant contractor who receives a 1099 each year. If we never got a 1099 from his employer and didn't keep up with the earnings ourselves, how do we approach the IRS to find out what wages were submitted for that year? I don't want to estimate and show more than what was reported, but I don't want to raise a flag as to why we have never filed for that year either. What should be my next step?

Thanks,

Mrs. S

Obviously, you should keep records of how much you were paid. Otherwise, your questions are for your CPA.
