Legal Question in Tax Law in Georgia

I purchased several cars in South Carolina and paid their 4% sales tax. I failed to report taxes paid in South Carolina to Georgia. Georgia mailed me notices to pay 7% sales tax plus penalties. Georgia placed a lien on my home. I sold my home and settled what I thought were all the purchases. I paid 7% plus penalities. This was in 2008. Last year I discovered there were still tax liens against me for other auto purchases. My question is how would I prove I paid the 4% already if I do not have a receipt or the Auction where I purchased vehicles no longer has the receipts? In reality I have paid the taxes plus interest already.....I now live in Florida

Do wat you should have done from the very beginning - hire a CPA who primarily handles tax matters. Doing it on your own, or relying on websites like this, won't solve the problem. The interest clock keeps ticking (I believe at a hefty 12%). Hire a professional and handle this.
