Tax Preparation Fees
I received a total tax return of $4,448. I just found out that my preparer charged me $477 for prep fees. Is it legal to charge this much? I filed a basic 1040 EZ and did not receive a rapid refund or any loan. I got my return in standard time. The prepare took my entire state check and took some money out of my federal to cover these fees? Is this legal as well?

You omitted the one relevant fact that makes it impossible to accurately respond - what did you agree to pay the preparer.
