Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

I was in a car accident and the other person was at fault leaving my truck in pretty bad shape.cops were called and information taken.both me and the other driver had insurance. Well now it has been 5 weeks since I got a lawyer I call to find out what is going on with my case and he says that the other insurance company is questioning whether the other driver had insurance. Wouldn't they have known that when we got in the wreck. Please help me understand I am confused I thought if you don't have insurance you go to jail I have her insurance info on the police report

I'm sure your lawyer has already told you that people lie all the time and give phony insurance information. When that happens, it slows you up, as the lawyer finds out, after some work, that it happened. Most people without insurance don't go to jail; they either sadly escape punishment or get fined.

But none of this matters. Unless you were very foolish, you knew that 10-25% of people have no or inadequate insurance, which means everyone should buy UM coverage. Assuming you did, the lawyer will be able to use your insurance to collect.

Again, he's likely told you all this already. And he's right.
