Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia
I got a citation for driving with a suspended registration and was told today that the ticket means I have to show up in court Friday morning. I have been in and out of the hospital over the past year, but have gotten the registration updated since I got the ticket. What kind of penalties am I looking at in Georgia, Dougherty County, City of Albany? I was pretty much in the hospital from mid-March 2011 until the beginning of December 2011. I was out for about 10 days (during which, I got the ticket...didn't even think of anything with the car when I was hospitalized) before having to go back in until last week (when I got the registration mess updated and taken care of). What do I expect when I go to court? Do I need to take anything with me? Can the charge be dismissed? I just don't want to go in blind, especially since I was just expecting to pay a fine until I called and was told about the mandatory court appearance today.

The potential fine is large, and you could lose a driver's license depending on the outcome and details you did not give us. This is a case where a local attorney could be very helpful to you.
