Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

Following Too Close

a driver in the left lane cut me off while traveling on a bridge on GA Hwy 53 (Dawsonville Hwy). speed was under 15mph in a 45mph zone due to heavy traffic. the result was contact to his rear-right bumper, my vehicle contact was on front left quarter-panel - essentially no-damage to either vehicle. However, driver assulted me. the police were called but i decided not to press charges at this time. he was ticketed for improper lane change, i was ticketed for following too close. driver's action of cutting me off and wedging me into wall of bridge was root-cause of contact with vehicles. what is best course to beat ticket and preparation should there be future ramifications resulting from the assult?

Re: Following Too Close

The assualt is basically a moot point since you decided not to press charges. It might only be relavent in a "human" sense with the judge or prosecutor. You might just try explaining the situation to the prosecutor in court and seeing what reaction you get. As far as prep, my only suggestion would be to hire an attorney.
