Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

On december 2nd I was in a single car accident in Dekalb County about a mile or two from Stonecrest Mall. I weather conditions were rainy and wet roads. I was driving on a road I have driven on for 5 years and I did something and over corrected in the turn. This caused me to lose control and spin out crossing the center line and ultimately resulting in a backward slide in to a ditch resting about 10 feet from a river. About 5-10 min before the wrecker got there a cop pulls up and issues me a ticket for failure to maintain lane. Stays there long enough to block the road for the wrecker and he was gone just as fast as he got there. Note: no other cars were involved. There was a witness who say what happened who says I was not going fast through the turn, which is true because the turn has a sign the says 25 through the turn. Now there is no doubt that I couldn't maintain my lane going back wards while spinning. I find that it is really hard to have complete control over a car with no training in spin recovery, though I wouldn't mind having that training now. What options do I have as far as getting the fine reduced ($231) or ticket dismissed or even reduce the ticket to a warning. I'm 19 years old. If more information is needed please let me know.

What should you do? You need to improve your driving skills. That will possibly save your life, improve your driving and, as a bonus, may help you in court. Sign up for a state licensed defensive driving course before court and bring that to court. Ideally you should retain a lawyer who may be able to use that course to help with your ticket. Since you are an under 21 driver, the consequences of conviction are severe - increased insurance rates and possible loss of license depending on facts not posted,.
