Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

I have a friend who was charged with Reckless Driving. He was sentenced to 57 hours of community service or $450 fine. He completed 15 hours of community service at a nursing home, but when he appeared in court, he was told that the nursing home wasn't approved, so he'd have to find another place to complete it. The judge gave him another month.

The next court date came up, and he hadn't completed any of his community service. He didn't go to court, and now he has a bench warrant. He just got a job at McDonald's, believing that he can save up the money to pay his fine so he won't go to jail.

If he doesn't get caught between now and then, what are the chances that he will still go to jail even if he is able to pay off the fine in the future?

Your friend badly needs a lawyer.

Failure to appear in court is a crime and judges take it seriously. He is now a wanted criminal and as a lawyer he needs to be advised that he should turn himself in.

He is likely to face jail and the longer he waits, the more likely it becomes. His continued thumbing of his nose at the judge is exactly the type conduct that gets people into jail.
