Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

Hi, my name is Hope. In 2012 I was arrested in Leesburg Georgia for possession of marijuana less than an ounce and possession of alcohol by a minor. In the court room there was a man that addressed the people of the gallery saying if we were there for traffic violations and misdemeanor drug charges, pleading nolo would ensure that you'd be able to keep your license, and since i didnt have a lawyer i didnt know if that applied to me. So i pled nolo, but the thing is, I've never had a license and once i was put on probation my license number was suspended. I dont understand how my license couldve gotten suspended if i wasnt driving. Every time ive been to the dmv (twice), they've told me that i have to pay a reinstatement fee of $25 and take a driving class that will cost $600. I guess what i really want to know is what would be the best thing for me to do? I'm not sure if my probation case is still open, I was on a phone reporting basis with my P.O. but haven't called them in 2 years, I did 300 hours of community service and they said i owed $750 in March of 2015

As you learned, it is always foolish to go to any court without seeing a lawyer. Pleading nolo hasserious consequences and your lawyer would have given youother likely better options. Why you would have listened to the prosecutor, whose job is to convict you, is beyond me. But what happened is what happens with a nolo - even non-drivers have drivers histories, and the suspension kicks in anyway, andto get a license you have to do all the same things as everyone else who pled nolo.
