Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia
I was issued a ticket in NY for driving w/out insurance in 1981. I failed to pay right away. Prior to moving to Ga. in 1989, I paid all my fines(or at least I was under the impression I did) at the DMV. I was cleared to obtain a driver's lic. in Ga. kept the Ga license in good standing and became a law enforcement officer. Last week I rec'd a notice from Ga that I could not renew my license because NY had suspended my license for failing to pay that ticket in 1981. They charged me $325 and stated that it would take 2 months for them to send a clearance to Ga. Meanwhile I cannot keep my job if I cannot drive. Do I have any remedy?

Probably the only way you can speed things up would be to go to NY in person.
