Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia
Can you lose your license for forgetting to renew registration? I forgot to renew mine vehicle registration and got pulled over. Will this just be a ticket? I live in Cumming Georgia. I have never had a ticket before, and I am 41 years old. Also my two children were in the car with me, and the Police officer was quite rude.

This is a criminal offense. It does not result in a license suspension (unlike a suspended registration, which can, so be sure of what your charge is). While the fines can legally be higher, most courts in metro Atlanta do fines and costs of from about $125 to $250. Some Judges may reduce a fine if you show proof of getting the tag before court. Note that you will NOT help yourself by complaining about the officer in court; politeness helps.
