Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

Too many points on license in a 24month period.

I used to drive about 400 miles a day as a technician for a living. I would get speeding tickets, pay them and when I get to the points limit I would get the potential suspension letter, go to the Driver improvement class to get the points off. Was misinformed by the Class instructor that you can only take the class once in 5 years to reduce 7 points, but when you are facing suspension on license all of the points are taking off and this can be done every time you get to the suspension letter. So I would just pay the tickets instead of going to court to try and reduce points or whatever because I could always rely on taking the class. On the 3rd letter in the mail (after about 4 1/2 years) it said my license would be suspended for 2 years for too many points in a 24month period and it didnt read the option to take the class. I went to the class anyway, received the certificate, and took it to the DMV. They said they could not reinstate my license because you can only take the class 2 times in 5 years and that was my 3rd time and my license was suspended for 2 years. They mentioned they had never seen anyone with this issue. It has been a little over a year now that Ive been trying to deal with not driving. I learned this lesson the very hard way. Lost my job and cant really make a living without being able to drive. I have an elder aunt that I have to look after and it is very difficult. Im in a serious hardship situation. I have lost so much money paying for people to take me places. Im riding bikes and buses and trains and Im just not going to be able to last another year. I read the law and it is there in black and white but is there a way to at least get a provisional license under the circumstances. Or maybe appeal some of the tickets after the fact. If I wouldve known I could have gone to court. All I needed was one point to be knocked off. I have been told there a people out there with 2 and 3 DUIs that have provisional licenses to drive to work. I just have points. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All this was completely your fault for not having counsel. Get a lawyer now to examine all your pleas. What would have been very cheap then will be far more costly now. There may be no fix now, but see a lawyer to be sure. In delaying you may have lost the right to rexamine older pleas.
