Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

I was pulled over at 1:30am and cited for failure to maintain lane. The road was divided two lanes headed west and two lanes headed east, I was headed east bound and in the far right lane. As I continued down the road with the officer behind me, a new right lane began and I merged over into it then I was pulled over. I made sure that it was safe for me to make to merge. The officer stated that I failed to use a turn signal. The only two cars on the road at that time was me and the officer who was behind me. On the citation he used Georgia code 40-6-48. After researching this code there is nothing in it that states that I had to use a turn signal when changing lanes. All it stated was that "A vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from such lane until the drive has first ascertained that such movement can be made with safety." That is exactly what I did! My question is: Is it advisable fight this ticket and what are my chances of winning.
