Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia
I got a speeding ticket in GA for doing 70 in a 55 mph zone and no car insurance. Went to court date expecting to pay fine. Judge said that if you didn't have lawyer that it would be a good idea to get representation. I'm from Alabama and this was never the case there. Do i really need a lawyer for this situation? Most said it would be $450 to go to court to negotiate. I am unemployed with no income.

Which makes more sense? Looking for advice on the internet from people who know nothing about your case, or "most" people who told you what the fine would be (whoever they are), or listening to the Judge who will decide what happens to you? Get a lawyer or take your chances. A guess here does you no good at all.
Get a lawyer.
In addition to the fines. a conviction or certain pleas to no insurance could cause suspension of your driver's license. Additionally a conviction for 15 over can raise your future insurance rates.
A lawyer might be able to preserve your license and otherwise help you.
If you're unemployed with no income, and make a request to the court, you should qualify for appointed counsel if you cannot afford counsel.
