Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia

In the state of georgia, within the first 6 months of being issued as class D license, you cannot drive with any passengers in your vehicle other than family. It has been a year and couple of months and an officer has cited me for driving with non-family passengers just because my new replacement license issue date was mistaken as the original issue date so he thought I was in the 6 month restriction period. My license was stolen along with my wallet which is why I had to get a replacement. Now I must go to court to handle this. It is a waste of time. What can I do?

You don't have to go to court if you consider it a waste of time - you can probably pay the ticket instead. Otherwise, if you want to get out of the ticket, you go to court. Before that, you go get your license corrected. Had this been corrected when you inspected the new license, which should have been the case, you would have not received the ticket in the first place.

Since you say going to court is a "waste of time" you have two choices.

You can keep that bad attitude, al to appear, and your license will be suspended, a warrant will issue for your arrest, you wil have hefty fines, and you will lose your right to drive.

Or you can do what others do who get a ticket they feel was unwarranted - appear in court and defend your case. It might be wise to go to the State DDS before court, and get the license fixed, or get a letter from them explaining the issue. If you go to court without that you probably will lose your case.
