Legal Question in Traffic Law in Georgia
what is the statute of limitations in the state of Georgia for photo-monitoring toll violations?
1 Answer from Attorneys
There is NOT a "statute of limitations." Unpaid violations are referred to a collection agency. If they remain unpaid after 90 days, the Office of the Georgia Attorney General will pursue the matter administratively at the Office of State Administrative Hearings (OSAH). The vehicles registration will be suspended if the amount due remains unpaid 30 days after a decision by OSAH is rendered. Once the violation occurs, the violator is liable for the unpaid toll and a statutory fee of $25 per violation. When pursued through OSAH, violators would then be liable for the unpaid tolls, the statutory fees and a civil penalty of $70 (per violation).
In otherw ords, once you let it go for a few months, the state takes your car registration. The ticket you get when you get caught for that will be from about $600 to $1000 and you may also lose ytour drivers license.
