Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

My 90 year old mother has two bank accounts. However, she has always saved cash money at home in a fireproof safe (she grew up during the depression). This is way over $10,000 and I was told after she dies I could not deposit this cash without a big hassle. Can you help?

The money doesn't belong to anyone after she dies without a probate. If she leaves it to you in a will, after probating the will, you may receive the money (unless it is claimed by creditors who come ahead of heirs).

If she leaves no will, the money will go to creditors first and then be split amongst heirs, after probate.

Help with what? It is her money. Relatives who are concerned with the "hassle" of getting it what she dies can honor her while she is living and respect her wishes.
