Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

Do I need another attorney to finish probate process

My husband died this year. His will left everything to me. We have minor children, all ours jointly.

I have fired the attorney handling this for many reasons.

My question is: Do I need another attorney to finish the probate process or can I do it myself? I am gun-shy about attorneys right now.

The will was filed in solemn form. I am the executor. The letters of testamentery have been issued. The guardian ad litem signed off on everything with no questions.

The last day for creditors to file claims has gone by or will in a few weeks. There are no creditors.

Since everything stays mine, there will be no distribution of the estate.

Reading the booklet that outlines the duties of personal represenatives, all that is left to do is the petition for discharge. When can this be done?

Thanks

As in all matters, you are free to represent yourself. It sounds like everything is in order; however, I would advise you to atleast contact a local attorney to have all the documents reviewed and see that everything is in order.
