Re: Right to change name

Since you have been going by a certain name all of this time and you are known as this person, there is no real need to change it unless you really want to see that change on your birth certificate. In that case it is a fairly simple process. You must file a petition to change your name together with other documents. Contact an attorney in your area.

Re: Right to change name

A name change is a simple procedure which can accomplished with a lawyer (approx. $500-$750) or by yourself. The applicable law is FL ST 68.07 which requires certain information to filed in a petition and then the judgment changing the name is almost automatic. You can view the statute at myflorida.com or http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?Mode=ViewStatutes&Submenu=1
