I am an only child, what do I need to handle my deceased moms financial matters.

Was there a will or not? That affects the answer.

Was she married? That greatly affects the answer.

If there was no will, did she own realty? Are there any debts? Those all affect the answer.

Regardless you need legal counsel. Depending on the answer you may need to do nothing, or may need to seek to Administer an Intestate Estate, or seek to Probate a Testate Estate, or do a no administration necessary proceeding.
