Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia
Need help with closure
I am married and my father and mother in law both passed away within 11 months of each other. It has been 8 months and we want closure in this matter. My brother-in-law has power of attorney and he won't return our phone calls. Is there any thing that I can do to speed this up. My husband needs closure before he loses his mind. Please help me...

Re: Need help with closure
The power of attorney of a person ceases at the person's death. Any powers of attorney are now meaningless. You need to apply to become administrator of the estates in Probate Court of the county of their residence.

Your brother-in-law is trying to buffalo you. You should immediately contact a local attorney familiar with probate work.
