executors rights

if I'm executor of my fathers estate do I need to ask my siblings before i sell anything of my fathers?

It depends on what the will says about the conditions, notice, etc. regarding your selling anything.

Depends. The will will say whether you have the power to sell and what you can sell. Once you file the will and get the letters testamentary from the court, the letters will also state whether you have the power to sell. Then, if it's real property or personal property there may be some differences and requirements. Of course, before you sell anything you will need to do a complete inventory and keep accurate records of everything. If you do sell something, you need to make sure you've sold it at a fair market value just to protect yourself. If you're an executor, you really should contact an attorney and consult with them before you do anything.

Maybe, maybe not. I'd have to see the will and other documents. (Usually the legal answer is no, but there are exceptions).
