The answer depends a great deal on complexity.

If the estate is small, there are only a few heirs, both wills are similar, and you're not dealing with testamentary trusts, we will usually do all that as a package for a couple for about $400. Many lawyers charge more. Some charge less. Do be aware that you do want someone with experience (for example I have done them for 31 years). We offer an additional $25 off for anyone who likes us on Facebook and prints out our latest Facebook post at https://www.facebook.com/274660098800

You may also want to discuss a health care directive instead of or in addition to a living will.

It depends. First, there is really no such thing as a "simple" will. Everybody's situation is different and while you may think its simple, there could be a lot of factors that could complicate the issue (disinheriting a child or spouse, divorce and remarriage, birth or adoption etc.).

Second, it depends on the legal marketplace. The going rate in urban New York or Atlanta is not the same as the going rate as South Georgia. You are fairly close to the Atlanta metro area so I would expect to pay a little more.

Also, you only mention a simple will, but there are other documents that go along with it (like a power of attorney for finances and healthcare and a living will) which should be part of any estate planning portfolio. And a will is not always right for everyone. Your situation or amount of assets may dictate that you have a revocable living trust instead. Trusts are more expensive.

Instead of posting here, shop around and ask attorneys what they charge! Some will tell you and give you a ballpark figure. Price should not be your only consideration. You want the work to be competently done and neither the most expensive or the least expensive will be necessarily good choices.

To give you a guide (and this is in the North Carolina area), I have seen wills for as little as $99 and as much as $2000 or more for trusts.

That is a question you ask the lawyer who may be doing it for you.
