Can a Father refuse to leave money to a child ?

A childs cuts off communication with

Father, parents have been divorced

many years. Father paid for University

and what he agreed to.

Is he obligated by law to put child in his

will or can he leave her out completely?

Adult children can usually be disinherited absent a contract to the contrary. Doing so can create difficulties that can be minimized. See an attorney to do it properly.

Yes.

You can disinherit a child in your will. If the child is of the age of majority there is no statutory provision for any minimum amount allocated to the child left out of a will. As you might expect - the concept of "will", the desires and intentions of the person making the property distribution plan intended to operate at their death - suggests that any desires of the testator (the will writer) should be honored, absent illegality, impossibility or some contrary public policy (e.g., minor children should not be left destitute, etc.)
